MEMBERSHIP TYPES

REGULAR ACTIVE MEMBERSHIP in the Ohio Law Enforcement K9 Association is open to any commissioned law enforcement officer, whether Federal, State, County, Municipal, Military, Corrections or Fire Safety Officer, who is a canine handler, trainer or administrator, pending Board approval.  Active Membership is granted to a past or present member of OLEKA who satisfies the eligibility requirements, agrees to uphold the purposes set forth in the OLEKA By-laws and has paid his/her dues for the ensuing year.  Active Members may vote and hold office.  Dues are $40.00 annually, January 1 – December 31.  Members joining the last quarter of the year will have a valid membership through December 31^st of the following year.

ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP in the Ohio Law Enforcement Association is open to anyone who is engaged in a public service profession.  They must be engaged in a public services agency as a 1. In state law enforcement non-canine handler, 2. A current or former canine handler outside the state of Ohio, 3. Any emergency responder, 4. Any private canine handler or former canine handler for hire or volunteer (in the fields of narcotics, explosives, search and rescue, or accelerant), 5. Other canine professional (trainer, breeder, vendor).  All Associate Members must uphold the purposes set forth in the OLEKA By-laws and have paid his/her dues for the ensuing year.  Input is welcomed during meetings; however, Associate Members have no voting rights.  Dues are $50.00 annually, January 1 – December 31.  Members joining the last quarter of the year will have a valid membership through December 31^st of the following year.

HONORARY MEMBERSHIP is open to any group, business, corporation or individual who is not a member of the Ohio Law Enforcement Association as defined, who agrees to uphold the purposes set forth in the OLEKA By-laws and has made a monetary donation to the Association of $100.00 or more.  The Executive Board must recommend Honorary Members for membership.  Honorary Members have no voting rights and membership lasts for one year.  Renewal is available upon recommendation of the Executive Board.
